Here's a really great project for older kids who are approaching or just entering their teens.
(If you want to buy one ready made for someone who needs one, you can order one here)
It introduces them to electronics and is really easy for them to build as there's only 2 components: a resistor and a flashing LED (light emitting diode).
No need to be concerned about the possibility of shocks because, as it's battery operated, there's no unsafe mains electricity for them to deal with.
What's fab about it is that the end result is of huge help to anyone whose memory is on the wane. Not just for them, it's also a great gadget for people who are easily distracted and prone to forget things as a result.
Easy-to-follow tutorial
The tutorial is filled with step-by-step instructions and photos covering every detail so they can't go wrong! it also lists all the parts and tools they'll need.
Part of the fun is in ordering the various bits online and waiting for them to arrive - but the most fun and sense of satisfaction they'll get comes from building something useful that they can give as a present to a grandparent or older aunt or uncle.
Great Christmas present
With Christmas fast approaching, now is a great time for them to get started on the project and if you're looking to help them branch out and try new things, it's a great place to start!
