V3 Of Zazzle Performance bookmarklet released - much improved

EDIT: May 1st: Entirley replaced by the new NiftyZSort bookmarklet - see this blogpost to get yours

Wow, That was quick, I hear you say!

I've done away with the companion bookmarklet by adding its functionality to the main ZPerformance bookmarklet - much more graceful 😀

It allows you to change what gets highlighted and now makes it easy to save your choices when you move pages.

This is what you'll end up with - or something similar, depending on the choices you make:

On the first click of the ZPerformance bookmarklet you'll be offered the initial default of highlighting the Zazzle 'views' stats (in blue) and the top performers' performance stats (in red):

After you make your choices and click ok, you'll see a list of all the products that have orders on the page you're looking at. It's sorted to show best-to-worst performance. The performance is worked out by dividing the number given for Views by the number of Orders (all time).

Get your bookmarklet here

Get yours by dragging the following link to your brower's toolbar: ZPerformance, making sure you delete any earlier versions first (right click and choose 'delete').

To use it,
  • First get to your store's back end
  • Sort the page using the sort option: Orders (All time)
  • Click the bookmarklet and accept the default configuration
See how the Last viewed date jumps out at you? So much easier to scan now.
Check your  top performers, the ones highlighted in red. If you've had lots of orders on any of them, then those will be quite reliable figures you can work with.

Let's say you now want to give it a go for real.
  • Again, get to your store's back end
  • Navigate to a category or a department or do a search - up to you
  • Set the page size to 96
  • Click the bookmarklet and choose to highlight the top 20 best performers and the Orders (All time)
  • Do this by typing "20 ordersalltime" (no quotes) and clicking OK
Now you can scan through, easily seeing just what you want to see, with the other stats available to look at if needed while you're doing it.

If you want to move to the next page, click the bookmarklet again so you can copy the last choices you made. This is because when the page changes (or you refresh the existing page) the bookmarklet loses its memory. Now all you need do is click the bookmarklet and paste what you just copied, if that's what you want to do 😀

Enjoy! 🤩

V2 of Zazzle Performance Bookmarklet released - now with config screen

EDIT: May 1st: Entirley replaced by the new NiftyZSort bookmarklet - see this blogpost to get yours

EDIT: Replaced by Version 3 - read more and get it here

This new version of the Zazzle Perfomance bookmarklet gives a configuration option so you have control over
  • how many of the products on the page that you want to have the alltime performance highlighted for (red)
  • any of the Zazzle statistics lines you want highlighted (blue)
You don't have to use the configuration option if you don't want to. If you don't use it, the top 10 best performing products (as given by Views divided by All Time Orders) will have their performance stats highlighted in bold, red.

This is an example of what you get after choosing to highlight views and last sold date:

This is the configuration screen so you can see how I set things up for the above:

...and here's what you get when you first click the ZPerformance bookmarklet:

This shows a sorted list of performance for each product on the page, best first. It uses the total number of views divided by the number of orders over all time ---> Views / Orders (All time)

The higher the number of orders, the more confidence you can have in the views-per-order number that's listed. With only 1 order, a views-per-order of 5 might just be good luck but if there's been dozens of orders for a particular product and it gives a views-per-order of 5, then that's probably a reliable figure to work with.

Get your bookmarklets here

Here's the ZPConfig bookmarklet and here's the new ZPerformance bookmarklet. Just drag those links to your bookmarks toolbar and you'll have your bookmarklets ready for use.

To try them out,
  • go to your Zazzle store's back end
  • sort things by Orders (All time)
  • set the page size to 96
  • Click the ZPConfig bookmarklet
  • type "viewed 20" (no quotes) and click ok
  • Click the ZPerformance bookmarklet
Do you see how easy it is to skim the results to better understand how / if last viewed date factors in to things?
The top 20 performances are highlighted in red (to make them easy to spot)

IMPORTANT If you want to change the configuration for the page, you'll first need to refresh the page to reset everything.

Fixed a big oopsie with the Society6 nIFTTTy Scheduler

I made a big oopsie a couple of weeks ago when, instead of uploading the final version of the Society6 nIFTTTy scheduler, the one that worked with collections, I uploaded an interim one  that didn't.

It's all sorted now:

That's it (above) pulling from my Tartans Home Decor collection in the scheduler. You can see how I set things up (before choosing the nIFTTTy scheduler option in Step 2 of  the Society6 Nifty CPanel) in the image below.

Zazzle Product Performance Bookmarklet

Edit April 30th: Please see this blog post for V2 of the Perfomance bookmarklet.
Edit April 27th 2018: Updated bookmarklet to also add the new stats to the stats already displayed under each product.
April 28th: Tweaked to make the top 10 performing products stand out more by making their performance stats (labeled alltime perf) bold and red. This is so it's easy to pick the best to promote

I was checking my stats on my Zazzle products and thought it would be a great idea to see which products had the fewest views per sale.
Doing it by eye and using mental arithmetic was a pain so I was thinking about a better solution.

That's when I remembered about javascript-driven bookmarklets and thought it was a perfect mini-project.

Wait - did I hear you ask what a bookmarklet is? Here's a simple definition:
a small software application stored as a bookmark in a web browser, which typically allows a user to interact with the currently loaded web page in some way
So the idea is:
  1. Get to your store's back end
  2. Navigate to the category, department and / or do a search to bring up the products you want to see the performance for
  3. Set the sort to "Orders (all time)"
  4. Choose the number showing on the page (96 is a good choice)
  5. Make sure in your stats that you're displaying the "Orders (all time)" and the "Views"
  6. Click the bookmarklet to see the performance, best first

The best performing ones (views divided by all-time orders) come first. Only those that have sold at least 1 are included.

Get your bookmarklet here

If you want this bookmarklet to see your own best performing products, just drag the following link to your Bookmarks Toolbar (Firefox) or Bookmarks Bar (Chrome):
ZPerformance

Want to know a bit more about bookmarklets? Here's what the Wikipedia entry for it says:
A bookmarklet is a bookmark stored in a web browser that contains JavaScript commands that add new features to the browser. Bookmarklets are unobtrusive JavaScripts stored as the URL of a bookmark in a web browser or as a hyperlink on a web page. Bookmarklets are usually JavaScript programs. Regardless of whether bookmarklet utilities are stored as bookmarks or hyperlinks, they add one-click functions to a browser or web page. When clicked, a bookmarklet performs one of a wide variety of operations, such as running a search query or extracting data from a table. For example, clicking on a bookmarklet after selecting text on a webpage could run an Internet search on the selected text and display a search engine results page.
