The products you want displayed in the scroller are pulled from Zazzle when you generate the scroller, not pulled afresh everytime the scroller is displayed - which needs javascript.
Not having javascript means the code can be pure html and this means there are more places for you to put your scroller. Which is nice :)
Here's an example from my store - pretty things with a Spring theme. Note that on Blogger you have to preview your post to see the scoller as it will look when published. In compose mode you see them all in a long, vertical list.
