End of Days series Taken on the beach at Lyme Regis, this shows a rotting groyne. With missing planks and iron posts rusting into oblivion, it will soon be another victim of the erosion of the shore by the relentless tide. While it still survives, the grain of the wood strikingly echoes the ripples in the sand and the waves of the sea, seeming to reflect its doom-maker as a mirror reflects the image of the approaching hammer blow.
