Now share Collections for free with the Society6 Nifty CPanel

Great news! You can now share from your Society6 collections with the upgraded Society6 Nifty CPanel.

www.kdl.to/society6-rss/society6-nifty-cpanel.html?qs&coid=hightonridley/collection/fun-for-space-mad-kids--adults&rf=hightonridley&ps=15&pg=1

Have a look at the screenshot and you'll see where you put in your collection identifier. You get it directly from your browser's address bar when you're viewing your (or someone else's) collection on Society6.

Here's a screenshot showing it:

A couple of points
  • Search doesn't work with collections, so is ignored if you've given a collection id
  • Remember,  your curator id is used in all links (except with the free Nifty Scheduler, when yours is used half the time and mine the other)
  • Search results pages always have 42 products in them (except the last one, which can contain fewer)
  • Collections have all their products on one page. For this reason, page number is ignored for collections
  • For collections, Nifty limits the number of returned products to an absolute max of 120
  • If you pull fewer than are available on a page, your selection always comes from the first ones on the page

As usual, the buttons with give help about the item they're next to, so if ever you forget how to use the option click or tap for a summary.

Here's a link to the above set-up

Enjoy 🙂

Slideshow sharer added to Society6 Nifty CPanel

I've spent the last couple of days with my ongoing DIY  (it never ends!) and at the same time, I've added a really cool slideshow sharer to the Society6 Nifty CPanel.

It works as normal with you giving a search. Once you've got the products showing that you want in your slideshow, you just hit the Open Slideshow Sharer in Step 2:

http://www.kdl.to/society6-rss/society6-nifty-cpanel.html

When the new page opens, the slideshow begins, cycling through the products. Each is clickable and the link includes your Curator id, making sure you get the 10% commission, if any is due. All you have to do is click any of the share buttons to get your slideshow out to your followers.

Here's one I made earlier

Sunflower Field and Early Bloomers Wall Clock

Normal price: $30.99

To get it here, I used the email-share button on the slideshow page and then emailed it to my secret auto-post email address for this blog. You won't ever want to do that because there's a better choice for putting slideshows on blogs. I've only done it so you can see an example slideshow sharer page - the destination when you pin, tweet or share on Facebook or Google Plus.

If you want an actual slideshow on your blog, use the widget designed specifically for it (a different option in Step 2). Here's a blog post with one of those slideshow widgets in place - see the difference?

Make your own slideshow here: http://www.kdl.to/society6-rss/society6-nifty-cpanel.html and tell us how it goes in the comments, if you like 😎👍

Society6 Nifty CPanel for Curators

The nIFTTTy share scheduler for Society6 is now out and available via the CPanel. Same rules as per the Zazzle one:
  • The free version of the scheduler uses your curator id half the time, ours the other.
  • The paid for one uses yours all the time.
  • 10 active (ie switched on) IFTTT applets max at any time

Test of the new Society6 Nifty CPanel slideshow widget

A slideshow widget showing popular cloud theme throw pillows. Each link uses my curator id from Society6 so I will earn referral commission if someone buys something by following any of the links:

Working on a Society6 Nifty CPanel

Many of my fellow Zazzlers also sell their artwork / designs via Society6 so I thought I'd develop a suite of promo tools for Society6 as I have for Zazzle and Amazon.

In order to be able to earn as an affiliate - curator is the term Society6 uses - you have to apply to become one. Once you do, you'll be given a curator id to use in all promotional links. (Zazzlers, it works just like the referral id when promoting Zazzle products).

Society6 has a very different 'search' approach to the one used by Zazzle, allowing the stringing together of a number of terms, some of which are 'reserved'. It makes it possible to pull products using searches like:
  • random blue tough cases iphone x
  • new yellow pillows
  • random easter bunny cards
  • cute animal backpacks

Getting products

Here's more detail on how you get products on Society6. These guide exactly how I'll build the tool. I'm heading for a free-form search option to allow fullest flexibility and a natural way of going about it. For the record, here's the low-down on what Society6 supports.

Departments

The different types of product are grouped into departments, with each department having its own term: wall-art, home-decor, bedding, bath and more

Products

Within each department are the actual products, for example, the stationery department includes notebooks, cards and stickers.

Color

There are 14 different color names you can use - all the normal ones like red, blue and green as well as others like pink, purple, magenta, aquamarine and tan.

Style

Some products, for example iPhone cases, also have a style and / or model. In the iPhone cases example, you could search for tough iphone x

Sorting results

Results are always sorted by popular unless you include new or random in your search terms.

Limitations found so far

The only drawback I've found so far is that the product images that can be extracted from search result pages have a maximum size of 264x264 pixels. Larger sizes are available on the product pages but the extra lookup to get the larger images from them would slow things down considerably.

Maybe as time goes on, I'll find a way of getting larger images from the standard search results pages. Maybe I'll ask Society6 support.

Fixed an oopsie in the free nIFTTTy share/pin/tweet scheduler

A few weeks ago, someone reported they were getting duplicate pins using the nIFTTTy share scheduler tool.

I spent a goodly while trying to get to the bottom of it and to reproduce the problem but alas, alak, I couldn't.

Well someone else reported the same issue, quickly followed by another, both in the last couple of days. So I doubled down and tried again. Yaay! 😎 - got it this time.

All fixed now :)
